Kenya’s High Court has mandated an immediate halt to Worldcoin’s biometric data operations, dealing a regulatory blow to Sam Altman’s cryptocurrency project. The ruling requires permanent deletion of improperly collected Kenyan user data within seven days and prohibits crypto-based user incentives.
Justice Roselyne Aburili found probable violations of Kenya’s Data Protection Act, siding with advocacy group Katiba Institute’s legal challenge. The decision underscores growing global scrutiny of crypto projects handling sensitive personal information.
